Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The names of the members that are in the group BTR “Born to Rock” are: Shin Light (L), Gu Minam, Jang Teakhyun, Kang Kee and Seok Kihyun. The one that I’m really in love with is L. Once I found out about the group I was going crazy over them especially L who is the sweetest most innocent out of them all, he as light brown hair, tall, handsome and hot. I found out that they were going to be in Seoul to perform at one of my favorite club on August 19, so I told my mom that I wanted to go to see them perform live because it was going to be a once in a life time opportunity to see them perform live on stage. On the day of their performance I was leaving my house and in my head I was thinking that I should not act like the other girls that are going to be at the club, so I said to myself that I should keep it cool while I’m there. When I got to the club I went to the back of the club instead where no one could see me, so I called my friend Akira and told her that I’m in the back so she could come and open the door from the inside for me (she works at the club part time so that’s why it was so easy). I could hear someone opening the door from the inside at first I thought it was Akira but the door suddenly swung open, it was so fast I couldn’t see it coming and it hit me on my forehead making me tumble to the ground. I heard a strange voice talking to me but I couldn’t see who it was, I think I got hit in the head enough to make me dizzy.

Summary Book Review Born to Run :

Download or read book in PDF Born to Run written by Bruce Springsteen and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2017-09-05 with total page 528 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himselfto writing the story of his life, bringing to these pages the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs. He describes growing up Catholic in Freehold, New Jersey, amid the poetry, danger, and darkness that fueled his imagination, leading up to the moment he refers to as The Big Bang: seeing Elvis Presley s debut on The Ed Sullivan Show. He vividly recounts his relentless drive to become a musician, his early days as a bar band king in Asbury Park, and the rise of the E Street Band. With disarming candor, he also tells for the first time the story of the personal struggles that inspired his best work. Born to Run will be revelatory for anyone who has ever enjoyed Bruce Springsteen, but this book is much more than a legendary rock star s memoir. This is a book for workers and dreamers, parents and children, lovers and loners, artists, freaks, or anyone who has ever wanted to be baptized in the holy river of rock and roll. Rarely has a performer told his own story with such force and sweep. Like many of his songs ("Thunder Road, "Badlands." "Darkness on the edge of Town. "The River" "Born in the U.S.A." "The Rising, " abd "The Ghost of Tom Joad," to name just a few). Bruce Springsteen s autobiography is written with the lyricism of a singular songwriter and the wisdom of a man who has thought deeply about his experiences.

This book was released on 2013-03-14 with total page 1550 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Oxford Encyclopedia of American Cultural and Intellectual History brings together in one two-volume set the record of the nation's values, aspirations, anxieties, and beliefs as expressed in both everyday life and formal bodies of thought. Over the past twenty years, the field of cultural history has moved to the center of American historical studies, and has come to encompass the experiences of ordinary citizens in such arenas as reading and religious practice as well as the accomplishments of prominent artists and writers. Some of the most imaginative scholarship in recent years has emerged from this burgeoning field. The scope of the volume reflects that development: the encyclopedia incorporates popular entertainment ranging from minstrel shows to video games, middlebrow ventures like Chautauqua lectures and book clubs, and preoccupations such as "Perfectionism" and "Wellness" that have shaped Americans' behavior at various points in their past and that continue to influence attitudes in the present. The volumes also make available recent scholarly insights into the writings of political scientists, philosophers, feminist theorists, social reformers, and other thinkers whose works have furnished the underpinnings of Americans' civic activities and personal concerns. Anyone wishing to understand the hearts and minds of the inhabitants of the United States from the early days of settlement to the twenty-first century will find the encyclopedia invaluable.

Book excerpt: Bruce Springsteen: Two Hearts is the definitive biography of one of the most important songwriters and performers of the last three decades. Critic Dave Marsh has traced Springsteen's career from its beginning, and has earned the singer's respect through his careful documentation and critical description of Springsteen's work. This biography brings together for the first time Marsh's two previous biographies, Born To Run (which covered Springsteen's early career through the mid-'70s) and Glory Days (which took him through the mid-'80s). Both were widely praised for their insightful and near definitive coverage of Springsteen's life and music. For this book, Marsh has written a new chapter covering major developments in Springsteen's career to today, particularly focusing on his album The Rising and its impact on American culture.

Download or read book in PDF Born to Win written by Dr. Kevin Leman and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2009-10-01 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Firstborns are the natural movers, shakers, and leaders of the world. They can accomplish anything they set their minds to. They're the high achievers, the benchmark setters, the business moguls, the concert violinists, the heads of the PTA. But if they're out of balance, they can be overly perfectionistic, driven, and critical. They can become controllers (everything has to go their way) or pleasers (they exhaust themselves in meeting the demands of others). Now available in trade paper, Born to Win identifies the qualities of firstborns . . . and there's a catch. Just because someone is the firstborn child in the family doesn't mean they'll have a firstborn personality. They can be third in a group of four siblings and still have a firstborn personality! Dr. Kevin Leman reveals why. He helps firstborns understand their natural advantages--while becoming aware of their weaknesses and learning how to sidestep them--for the highest level of personal success at home, at school, at work, and in relationships. And he helps those who live or work with firstborns to understand them better. This fun, informative, and practical book will keep readers engaged and provide many "aha!" moments.

Book excerpt: Roland White’s long career has taken him from membership in Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys and Lester Flatt’s Nashville Grass to success with his own Roland White Band. A master of the mandolin and acclaimed multi-instrumentalist, White has mentored a host of bluegrass musicians and inspired countless others. Bob Black draws on extensive interviews with White and his peers and friends to provide the first in-depth biography of the pioneering bluegrass figure. Born into a musical family, White found early success with the Kentucky Colonels during the 1960s folk revival. The many stops and collaborations that marked White's subsequent musical journey trace the history of modern bluegrass. But Black also delves into the seldom-told tale of White's life as a working musician, one who endured professional and music industry ups-and-downs to become a legendary artist and beloved teacher. An entertaining merger of memories and music history, Mandolin Man tells the overdue story of a bluegrass icon and his times.
